Owners Scott & Tim outside our new Altrincham e-bike showroom on opening day
It’s been a busy time since our last email: two new stores, lots of new bikes coming into stock, some new award winners and a couple of bargains in our Clearance category.
Our Altrincham and Twickenham showrooms are now open
Store manager Reece (pictured left) is on hand to give advice and arrange test rides on e-bikes from Kalkhoff, Haibike, Scott & Cube with three floors of showroom space. See our Altrincham showroom page for more details.
London Showroom Relocation – 50cycles Twickenham
We’ve also relocated our London showroom from East Sheen to Twickenham. There’s plenty of space over two floors, a workshop, even a gated yard for outdoor events.
We’re next door to Twickenham’s busy Waitrose, a short walk from the station which connects to central London and close to the M3 / A316 into and out of South West London.
For test rides there are quiet streets in the immediate vicinity, the Thames Path is only yards away with Richmond Park further afield.
The official opening day for Twickenham is Saturday 4th June but you’re welcome to visit in the meantime – there are plenty of bikes ready to test ride and Harry is on hand to help. Location map and opening times.

New Bike Arrivals from Winora, Kalkhoff, Scott & Cube
…it’s the 2017 Winora Yakun Tour
I’ve been waiting to get my hands on one of these since falling for it at the Haibike-Winora launch show in Germany last Summer.
It’s the only fully-equipped touring bike (kitted out for town and country riding with excellent lights, suspension, mudguards and 20-speed XT gears) powered by Yamaha’s latest, lightweight, super powerful PW-X motor.
You usually only find the Yamaha PW-X motor on the latest high-end off-roaders, something like the £3,995 Haibike SDURO FullSeven 7.0 from the same manufacturer. As well as being a true all-rounder it’s great value too.
I’ve put over 50 miles on the clock riding all around Brighton and the South Downs over the past week. It’s the best cycling experience I’ve had in years.
I’ve been amazed by its hill-climbing power, its sporty handling, how easy it is to cycle up to 20mph under my own power, how effective its lights are when riding home through unlit sections along the coastal (see above).
It’s tough too, needs to be with some of the treacherous, flinty tracks around here. Meaty 27.5 x 2.2 tyres help. Plus it looks like nothing else. It’s the e-bike I’ve been waiting for for years. Love it.
Kalkhoff Integrale 8 LTD back in stock and Durban Compact arrives
The Integrale 8 LTD was the showpiece model at Kalkhoff’s big Summer Bike Expo and it quickly sold out. It’s a sporty version of the Integrale i8, with its distinctive black and white look and racing trim.
Only 5 of each size available for the rest of the season at £2995.
We first encountered the 2017 Durban Compact at the Kalkhoff Bike Expo in Germany last Summer.
It was difficult to know what to make of it without a proper test ride with some hills and headwinds. That opportunity came later at Kalkhoff’s event in Mallorca earlier this year.
We were delighted to find that this, the least expensive of Kalkhoff e-bikes, is actually a great little bike.
Practical, fun and a serious hill-climber, we placed an order for them there and then. We have a small number of each colour in stock at £1495. If you’re looking for a Kalkhoff to run daily errands on or to stow in the back of your motorhome, the Durban Compact is a smart choice.
It comes with lights, extra-long mudguards, a front carrier, 8-speed Shimano gears and the new 36V 250W Groove Go motor. Kalkhoff Durban Compact
New Scott Arrivals
Scott have pulled some surprises this season with a collection of beautifully finished, well-equipped bikes, some with German manufacturer Brose’s excellent new motor and well-integrated battery. See the full selection on our Scott page
Scott’s E-Silence 20 was available for test rides at our Altrincham opening and several things about it impressed all who tried it.
It applies its enormous power (up to 90Nm torque) in complete silence, it has futuristic looks, an incredibly neat combined console and control buttons (left) make it one of the smartest e-bikes ever to make it from the concept stage onto the market. There’s also a version with NuVinci automatic gears called the E-Silence Evo.
We have a selection of Scott E-Bikes in each of our showrooms, come and see what you think.
New Cube Arrivals
Cube’s E-bikes were a late addition to our 2017 range but a very welcome one. Their bikes are pretty much perfect in terms of style, specification and reliability.
Cube is a German brand that places particular emphasis on quality. Their in-house testing regime is the toughest anywhere. They make the first Carbon-framed (and therefore lightest) e-bike we’ve ever stocked, the Cube Elite Hybrid C:62 29 Race 500 which tips the scaled at just over 18kg.
Another special model is the Reaction Hybrid HPA SL 500 (available in retina-searing red, left, or black).
They’ve succeeded in combining Shimano’s new 11-speed XT transmission, Rockshox Recon air forks, Bosch Performance CX with Purion display and semi-integrated battery into a beautiful bike that costs under £2500. Possibly the best-value, best-equipped Bosch hardtail around.
2017 ExtraEnergy Awards
The latest ExtraEnergy Awards were published recently and a number of winners and special mentions are among our current line up.
The Hercules Rob Fold earned a Good in the Easy Category. We don’t stock the Haibike Trekking 4.0 400Wh, winner in the Easy Category, but we do stock the even better Haibike Trekking 5.0 with a larger 500Wh battery capacity and superior XT gears, in both ‘Men’ and ‘Women’ versions.
Check out our Clearance page for reduced prices and special offers, including a rare (the only one in the country) Kreidler Las Vegas 1.0 full suspension E-MTB (left), the last of our Focus Jarifas, plus deals on the Agattu Premium and Integrale 10 and Integrale S10. Prices on all clearance bikes include free delivery and most come with the full 2-year warranty.
