HardnutZ Autochrome Helmet

HardnutZ Autochrome Helmet

New to our range of stylish, some say unusual, helmets are the HardnutZ street styles.

We’ve picked half a dozen of their best styles, including the pleasingly shiny Autochrome and another one that is covered with pictures of all your favourite nuts.

Underneath that pretty shell is a very respectable, fully-certified, adjustable and rather comfortable helmet.

  • Tough ABS injection moulded outer shell for maximum protection.
  • Impact-absorbing EPS inner liner.
  • Twelve vents to help keep you cool.
  • Dial-fit adjuster to ensure a proper and comfortable fit.
  • Simple to adjust chin strap with comfy chin pad.
  • Two sets of different thickness removable, washable padding.
  • Black rubber rim and covered EPS to add a smart finishing touch.
  • Hi-Vis nylon, shower proof carry bag included which serves as helmet protector and reflective backpack.
  • All fully tested and certified to CE EN-1078:1997/A1:2005 (more…)

Kalkhoff Image B27 electric bike Kalkhoff Image BionX arrives

The BionX electric bike system is one of the most sophisticated and powerful around. Usually only available in kit form, Kalkhoff have built it into their award-winning Image 27-speed touring bike and we will have a demonstrator available in our Richmond store from 1st June. Come and try it, it’s an absolute cracker.

Please note: This model is only available in limited numbers and the introductory price of £1895 is due to increase to £1995 on 5th June.

Kalkhoff 18Ah battery pack

At long last… 18Ah batteries

We have been taking orders for Kalkhoff’s revolutionary new 18Ah battery pack (still the largest capacity and longest range on the market) since last November. Some of our customers have waited a long time, but we’re pleased to announce that Kalkhoff have confirmed that the first consignment is now on its way to us and so we’ll be in a position to fulfil all back orders as soon as they arrive.

We’d like to thank all customers for their considerable patience.
Derby Cycle Growing Kalkhoff manufacturer’s sales rocket

Kalkhoff is now the market-leading brand of electric bikes in Germany which has helped push the manufacturer, Derby Cycle’s, sales figures to new highs. They’ve seen a 134% increase in pedelec sales to 39,000 bikes compared to the same period last season, as the dominance of their electric bicycle range gathers pace. We’ve certainly seen demand take on a new character this season, much of it down to the new battery technology, across-the-board power improvements and increased awareness. Read more at Bike Europe

Peak car study

First Peal Oil, now Peak Car?

“Is this the end of the car?” asks the Independent newspaper this week as it reports on the findings of Professor Phil Goodwin of the University of West England. Car use in the UK is declining and has been since the mid-1990s in London. Is it fuel prices, lifestyle changes or some other factor at work?Whatever the cause, there are serious implications for the towns we live and work in as the car gives way to more pedestrians, cyclists and light rail networks. personal bike lane projector No cycle lane? Make you own!

We’re all for ingenious gadgets that make cycling easier, safer and more fun, but this idea is brighter than most. Vladimir Turner and Ondrej Mlady, two Czech artists, have created a device that projects your very own cycle lane ahead of your bike, wherever you may be. Here’s a video of it in action along with more on the story. We think it’s just a fun project at the moment but it’ll be interesting to see where the idea takes them.

ideal home show scotland electric bikes

Ideal Home Show Scotland

A pair of our electric bikes greeted visitors to the Prince’s House show home at last March’s Ideal Home Show in Earl’s Court and this month they’ll be on show again at the Glasgow show. The Prince’s House demonstrates how living in an energy-efficient, sustainably-constructed house need not need any compromise in comfort, style and, of course, mobility (that’s where the electric bikes come in).

That’s all for now, thank you for reading

Great to see Electric Bikes being trialed like this using the same Panasonic Technology as our Kalkhoff bikes. However we usually have a bigger 18amp battery.

Good news

We have just had some very good news. The BH Emotion folding bike will be available again in two weeks. This model sold out so quickly because it seems to be the only Panasonic driven folder on the market. Weighing only 19kgs it boosts you up the hills with no sweat.

Kalkhoff Sahel Comfort Electric Bike Reviews

With the most striking looks of any Kalkhoff electric bicycle, the Sahel Comfort has a level of style and equipment that is unique. It shares the latest 250W high assistance motor, Panasonic Lithium battery pack and Busch & Muller LED lights with several other models, but the Brooks aged leather saddle and handgrips, couple with excellent Magura hydraulic rim brakes, are reserved for the Sahel

"Not the cheapest electric bike but DEFINITELY the best"

Here's a review of the 2010 Kalkhoff Pro Connect LX - the first we've had from a customer. Thanks Mike! This was a replacement for my Ezee Torq bike which I'd purchased from 50 Cycles in 2008 and had great fun with. It converted me to electric biking! The Kalkhoff Pro Connect LX electric bike is in a different class all together. For a start it is much lighter and I am able to cycle quite happily
