There are now Kalkhoff owners enjoying their electric bicycle in all parts of the UK and across the world. Thousands are more considering buying one but would like to take a short test ride first. Anyone can already try out a Kalkhoff at the 50cycles showroom in Loughborough, or in Richmond Park, but we're keen to hear from any members who own a bike and wouldn't mind letting the occasional person have a go on it.

We ran a scheme like this with earlier electric bikes and it worked out very well, but this is the first time we'll be trying it with the Kalkhoff's and we're more confident than ever it will help boost their popularity as they're so reliable, safe and easy to use and their owners are all such genuinely wise and wonderful people!

So, post here if you're interested. Potential test-riders can get in touch via the public forum or through personal messages. Let's see what happens!

I am located in Milton Keynes and am happy to let seriously interested people test ride one of my Agattus at a mutually convenient time. No joyriders or under 21s please.

I've emailed to volunteer as a demonstrator for my XL 61cm diamond frame Agattu.

Couple of points though:

I would need to hold the persons driving license or passport.  (Don't want someone disappearing with my beloved Agattu)

What happens if the tester crashes and damages my bike Huh Will you fix it free of charge ?

(You can probably tell, I really like this bike  Grin )

Hi Malc

These are very good points and I can tell you love your Agattu and rightly so.

I would say to hold the persons driving license or ID would be a good idea, but at ones own discretion. Usually the person trying the bike arrives in a car, on their own bicycle or with their partner. This should be deposit enough  Cheesy

Please make sure that the person testing the bike does know how to ride a bike before letting them try it. You are responsible for your own bike.

Having seen 1000's of bikes demonstrated at shows and on our premises I have only ever witnessed one incident which was due to a very powerful hub motor folding bike, this had a tendancy to wheely if you pulled the throttle without sitting on the bike. Thankfully nobody was injured and nothing was damaged. The Panasonic system is very user friendly.

However, before letting someone try the bike it is always a good idea to provide basic safety advice and information such as where the brakes are, on/off switch and point out local obstacles such as busy roads or potholes.

Best regards

Scott

Hi Seagolfer

If someone went under a bus from trying out a bike we would be most upset and shocked that we would do anything we could, out of compassion to help.

You would be responsible for your own bike but I will make sure 100% that you are not liable for any injury occuring during someone test riding your bike.

I will get back to you with a formal response of everyones position and responsibility soon.

Thank you for your response and interest.

Best regards

Hi my name is Greg, I have been the proud owner of a Kalkhoff Pro Connect (61cm frame) since Aug 08, and have done over 1000 miles commuting to work daily.
I am located in Loughborough and am happy to let seriously interested people test ride my Pro Connect at a mutually convenient time.
No joyriders please.

A very nice couple living local to me in Milton Keynes came to have a look at my Kalkhoff 2 weeks ago. They were interested in buying electric bikes to take along when touring with their motorhome in Europe. After a brief ride on the Kalkhoff and my Ezee Torq, the Agattu was the favourite. I haven't heard if they have decided to buy yet.

Once again, feel free to contact me if you would like to have a demo.

I live in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.  I'd be happy to let someone ride my 53cm frame Agattu, providing they satisfied the same security requirements as mentioned before in this thread.  I would probably want to accompany them on another bike to make sure my baby comes to no harm   Cheesy

I have already done this for three people.  One went on a 7 mile ride with me, all three were really impressed.  The best bit always seems to be when they switch to high power mode and the bike takes off.
