Reviews
With over twice the life (and half the weight) of a cheaper sealed lead acid (SLA) battery, the Via Rapido's high quality 26V Li-Ion battery can easily be removed for storage or charging. Relatively lightweight for an e-bike at just 52lbs, its integrated pedal assistance will allow most riders to achieve the rated 15-22 mile range (since pedaling is required). But for heavier riders and hilly terrain the range might be slightly reduced, so expect 12-15 at the worst. The IZIP Via Rapido is powered by a 250W chain-driven motor, similar to the 450W motors included on other IZIP models. Surprisingly, the reduced power of this motor is barely noticeable since the Via Rapido operates in pedal assist (up to 50% power) and the throttle only provides the other 50% while pedaling. Even with the pedal assist bypassed and using just throttle, 250W is plenty of power on flat terrain. But if you have big hills or inclines, plan on providing assistance. * For more information on how to bypass the pedal assist and make this bike fully throttle-controlled, please contact us. OPINIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Lightweight and affordable, the IZIP Via Rapido is a great commuter bike. Because of its unique pedal assistance system, 700c wheels and narrow self-sealing tires, this bike is well-suited for riders who prefer to pedal and will be commuting by street. Although this bike can handle smooth off road conditions, the narrow tires will make it hard to handle in loose dirt or sand and wider tires might be more suitable on paths or bike trails.
