Bike: Accelerate on the open road and take the fast lane with this lively e-bike made for road riding. With its purpose-built geometry, excellent weight distribution and integrated power, Road-E keeps you going strong on busy commutes and all sort of road adventures. The SyncDrive Sports motor, PedalPlus 4-sensor technology and RideControl command centre, all integrated with a sporty ALUXX SL frameset, make the new Road-E a whole new way to experience road riding.

Drive: The SyncDrive Pro Giant's version of the Yamaha PW-X central motor is compact, producing an astonishing 80Nm of torque which gives you an instant and even amount of power. From a standstill, the motor gives you full support and the higher torque gives you more power at lower speed, keeping you in control even on the most demanding trails.Giant have only played a minor role in the motor’s software, but for the SyncDrive Pro they’ve delved further into how the Yamaha motor runs. The result is a bit like a chip tuning for your car: the software should now enable more torque and a superior performance over a broader cadence range, which essentially makes the motor more attractive for those riders looking for speed and performance. Giant’s tuning has given it an, even more, superior performance without running the risk of an unnatural ride.
Coupled with an ultra-reliable 500Wh Lithium Ion battery you get more range helping you go the extra mile. What´s so special about this system is the so-called “Zero Cadence Support” – that means, the engine supports from the first crank turn, without any delay. Another advantage of this system is that the engine with crankset can be combined with a double chainring, which enables you to ride with a higher pedal frequency on gradients.

The PedalPlus 4-sensor technology keeps track of exactly how much force you are applying to the pedals at any given moment to ensure that any assistance the motor gives you feels natural. It's the torque sensor that gets things moving effectively. It recognises how much pressure you're putting on the pedals so that the motor can deliver its seamless power boost. The speed sensor keeps track of how fast you're travelling, and the motor and pedal rotation sensors make sure the motor is running as smoothly, efficiently and as quietly as possible.

Battery: Giant's EnergyPak batteries have the highest energy density of any e-bikes in their category and they charge twice as the Taiwanese company's earlier battery systems. The batteries are integrated seamlessly into the frames of the Giant e-bike range, which helps stabilise the bicycle while also making the full e-bike range look like normal lithe lightweight bicycles. You'll be able to eek out a maximum range of 80 miles from Giant's 500Wh EnergyPak battery.

Display: The RideControl EVO display is the control centre for all of your electricity-assisted riding needs and is Giant's answer to Bosch's Nyon interface system. Ergonomic controls, USB charging options for unlimited Garmin-ing or even some phone charging, and an intelligent walk assist mode - to help you when you're walking the potentially heavy bikes around - are all features of the RideControl kit. Equally, you'll be able to monitor the battery levels of your system, and choose what level of pedal assistance you require.

There are three options: Eco, Normal, and Power. As you'd expect Eco is for moments when you don't need much power - when you're cruising through an urban area, or you want to travel a long distance for a ride. Normal's good for hills and undulating country roads, and Power will give you a boost if you're running against the clock, or there's a particularly steep mountain in your way.
