This is what a reliable, low-maintenance and affordable urban pedal-assist e-bike looks like - and for 2017 Cube have upgraded the gears from 7 to 8-speed. The CUBE Travel Hybrid provides superbly reliable, easy-to-use and environmentally friendly mobility. It's all thanks to an innovative and comfortable frame, state-of-the-art Bosch drive and battery technology and high quality, comfortable finishing components.
Travel Hybrid is state-of-the-art measurement technology to analyse the impacts and effects of the Bosch motor on the frame, as well as taking into account the rider's behaviour as they control the bike. Using this information, we designed the frame around the specific requirements of the drive system. The result is an incredibly stable step-through aluminium frame with amazing steering precision, thanks to an oversized hydroformed down tube, strengthened bottom bracket and head tube sections, double chainstay and double chamber seat tube.
The Travel Hybrid is based around Bosch's Active Drive Unit with a 400Wh battery as standard - and you can upgrade to 500Wh for extra range. The combination of 8-speed Shimano Nexus hub gear and hydraulic Magura HS11 rim brakes makes for low maintenace, safe riding - and we added a Hebie Chainglider to fully enclose the drive system, meaning you won't need to clean the chain or risk getting any oil on your clothes. The CUBE suspension seatpost, Selle Royal saddle, CUBE handlebar and Suntour NEX suspension fork all add that extra little bit of comfort. An Abus frame lock keeps your bike safe from theft - and we've ensured that it uses the same key as the battery lock. Busch & Müller's modern LED lights can be controlled from the handlebar display and draw their power directly from the Bosch system battery. A Racktime Eco luggage rack adds cargo-carrying versatility, while Schwalbe's Spicer tyres provide both comfort and grip when you need it most.
The battery is impressively easy to use. Thanks to an integrated locking system, the battery can be removed and re-attached just like any “plug &play” device and can be completely charged in its own charger in a record time of only 3 hours.
High-tech on the handlebars. The small control panel permits the rider to control any integrated areas on the bike. The Assistance Level and the light function can be controlled and selected. Furthermore, the small screen displays the current battery status, the coverage in kilometers and includes the functions of a conventional bicycle computer. With a highly precise wheel diameter setting even after changing wheels, users can make fine adjustments at the push of a button.
The drive complies with all road regulations and its compact design has the additional advantage in that it is attached to the bottom bracket, giving the bike an optimal center of gravity. The drive unit is equipped with an electronic control system with three sensors for force, cadence and speed, ensuring optimal coordination. It makes 1000 sensor measurements per second
