There are kids electric bikes now?
Electric bikes have long been popular with older riders, people who would otherwise write off cycling but find that electric bikes are a great way to get around.
But what about cyclists at the other end of the age scale? Why would a child want to ride an electric bike? Do kids electric bikes even exist? Should they? Continue reading
The Cycle Show 2016 is now in full swing at the Birmingham NEC. We attended our first Cycle Show in London back in 2004 with a somewhat home-made stand. It was actually a great success for us at a time when electric bikes weren't even really a niche product. Today they're an established and growing segment of the bicycle market and our early start means we're still leading the way.
Ex-Display Electric Bikes
We're clearing last season's Kalkhoff and Focus ex-display electric bikes from our showrooms, so it's a great time to pick up a bargain for yourself, a relative or friend.
Some of these bikes have no miles at all, some have a few dozen and a small number have clocked up hundreds of miles in short test rides. They've all been regularly cleaned, checked and serviced. Continue reading
We produced this simple 8-page electric bike catalogue covering the range of Kalkhoff and Focus electric bikes we'll be offering in 2016.
It contains some stirring words about why you really want to own an electric bike, a summary of the various motor systems on offer, prices, details of our showrooms and contact details plus a handy size guide that will help you find which frame option is best for your height. Continue reading
Next time you visit 50cycles.com you'll notice that we've update the home page, divide our e-bikes into more sensible categories and added all the 2016 Kalkhoff electric bikes we're offering. Continue reading
We've joined the growing number of cycle shops on Britain's high streets by opening a couple of new showrooms this year.
Our Bristol electric bike showroom does stand alone in that area of the city, but we're directly opposite established cycle businesses in both our Shoreham-by-Sea (handy for Brighton, Worthing and the rest of Sussex) and East Sheen, London locations. But that's not a problem because we're not just any old bike shop and these are not any old bikes. These are electric bicycles. They’re like bikes, but better. So we've posted this in all our showroom windows Continue reading
All our 2015 Kalkhoff and FOCUS range are available to buy using electric bike finance. We offer up to a year's interest-free credit with a minimum 10% deposit. You can put down a deposit up to 65% of the value of your order to reduce the monthly payment amount.
You can complete your electric bike finance application on our website. Here's how to order a bike on credit in a few easy steps.
1. Select the best electric bike for you from our range.
Do you want an All-rounder like the Tasman, something sportier like a Pro Connect or an all-terrain electric mountain bike from FOCUS?
2. Select the best frame size
Most models are available in a range of frame sizes (with on exception, the Sahel Compact, which is one-size-fits-all).
Quick Kalkhoff electric bike size guide
If you're under about 5'6", a 45cm or 46cm frame is best. If you're over about 6'2", we recommend a 55cm frame. Otherwise you'll find the 50cm frame size is just right. You can select frame size by clicking the button under frame type.
45cm 26" means the bike comes with smaller 26" wheels. Most models have 700c 28" (except the Sahel Compact which comes with 20" wheels).
3. Add your bike to your basket
Add you bike to your Basket and proceed to check out. If you're ordering on finance, delivery needs to be to a UK address, and the same address as that on your finance application. We cannot offer finance to companies or deliver your bike to an address other than the one given on your application.
First of all, leave us your email address, followed by your contact details. You won't be offered interest-free finance if your billing and delivery address are different. So if you're not offered the choice of paying a deposit, that's almost certainly why.
5. Payment options
On the payment page you'll be given card payment, paypal and interest free finance options. If you select finance, you can then select the period of the finance (6, 9, 10 or 12 months) and the deposit amount (minimum 10% of the order, maximum 65%).
6. Secure Payment
Click the pay securely now button and you'll be redirected to our Secure payment page, with extra card security if you're enrolled in Visa 3DSecure or Mastercard SecureCode.
7. Online finance application
Once your deposit payment has been accepted, you can complete your finance application online with our finance partner, Hitachi Capital (UK) PLC. They are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
8. Instant decision and delivery
Finally, once we have received confirmation that your finance application has been accepted and authorised, we will arrange to despatch your bike by courier. We always contact you before despatching a bike to ensure that somebody will be at the delivery address on the day.
Most applications are accepted immediately and you will be able to sign the credit agreement electronically. Sometimes your application may be referred before acceptance, or a signature on a printed copy of your agreement will be required.
NB if your finance application is declined we will contact you to see if you wish to pay the balance with a card or some other means of payment. If not, we will refund your deposit in full without delay.
9. Enjoyment of one of the best electric bikes it's possible to own!
