50cycles made an electric bike donation to Help the Homeless Leicester before Christmas. The company delivered a pair of electric bikes to be used by volunteers delivering food and reaching out to homeless people around the city.
The people most in need of help can seek shelter a little off the beaten track. For example, canal towpaths are inaccessible to motor vehicles and may need miles of walking to reach people to help.
Electric bikes make it much easier for volunteers, many of whom were themselves homeless in the past, to reach those most in need of assistance at this time of year.
The donation included helmets, high-vis vests, locks, Kalkhoff Agattu bikes and battery chargers. These were bikes were donated by customers in our trade-in scheme earlier in 2019 before being serviced and put back into use.
Calling for more electric bike donations
We are still accepting electric bike donations and offer a trade-in scheme if you’re looking for a replacement e-bike.
We hope to be able to donate more bikes through the course of this year – electric bikes have always had the power to change lives for the better, this is just one more way to spread the benefits.
